SKetchbooks
Sketchbooks are an integral part of the art & design curriculum in all years of study. Students document their understanding of other artists, experiment with materials and processes, reflect on their own progress and develop their own ideas to create individual outcomes.
Sketchbooks also allow the students to display their own independent research skills and record their own creative approach to learning.

Year 5 & Year 6 Containers
In first few months of 2016, the Year 5 and Year 6 students at the Junior School developed ideas based on the topic of 'containers'. First they looked at narratives in art such as the Bayeux Tapestry and Egyptian Hieroglyphs. Secondly, they created shaped containers using 'papier mache' and their knowledge of Greek pottery. The result is a series of colourful containers that display elements of personal narrative.
Year 7 Mandalas
To start the year, our Year 7 students created their own personal mandala designs. Using oil pastels and learning how to mix colour they created a series of unique designs that demonstrate symmetry and bright, dynamic colour.
Year 7 Colourful Specimens
Inspired by entomology, the Year 7 students created images that explored realism, negative & positive space as well as abstraction before producing their clay tile designs. After carving their designs in to the tiles and building up relief areas, the tiles were glazed to add colour.
Year 8 Elemental
To add to our visual 'Periodic Table of the Elements', the Year 8 students focused on developing their graphic design and printmaking skills to create new additions to our project started last year. Below are the reduction linocuts produced. Another great year for this project with outstanding work and skills developed by the Year 8 students. Well done!
Year 8 Facing Difference
To develop their portrait skills and enhance their experimentation, the Year 8 students completed a project titled 'facing difference'.
