Year 7 Colourful Specimens
Taking inspiration for the work of Mark Hearld, this first project in Year 7 looked at ways to create collage images based on insects. As part of the project students created their own marbled papers and developed an understanding of tone when drawing.
Year 7 Tea Party
Throughout the year, Year 7 have worked on a variety of works in a variety of media to explore the theme 'tea party'. This has included large (A2) oil pastel drawings of sweet wrappers, learning to draw cakes in three-dimensions and sculpting pots with lids that are reminiscent of cupcakes. An enjoyable set of tasks, that did make us a little hungry!
Year 8 The Painted Face
To continue to build their understanding of drawing and explore elements of facial proportion Year 8 have developed self-portraits embellished with patterns from other cultures. Working with Wolff Carbon crayons students focused on achieving a range of tone in order to produce images that show greater dimensionality. Overall these are excellent drawings that are easily recognisable as our Year 8 students.
Year 8 Elemental
For their inital project of 2014/15, the Year 8 students focused on visualising the 'Period Table of the Elements'.

Year 8/9 Frankenface
This project was started at the end of Year 8 and recently finished during the start of the Year 9 autumn term. Frankenface was inspired by using mobile phones to 'change' individual facial features. Starting with a black and white self-portrait students develop a variety of skills in order to create a mixed media portrait.
Year 9 Mini Me
With a focus on building their three-dimensional skills the aim of this Year 9 project was to prduce a work of art that was inspired by decorative figures from other cultures. Thinking about the kokeshi dolls from Japan and the matryoshka dolls from Russia, students designed a small sculpture that exhibited personal characteristics. By using clay and modroc the students created the 'mini me' sculptures below.
Year 9 In Memoriam
In the autumn of Year 9, the students developed printmaking images in remembrance of World War 1. Looking at propaganda posters and the methods of visual communication during that time. Using relief printing and stencilling they produced the following outcomes:
